We are beginning a series of 6 Bible studies, arising out of the visit that the URC made to Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories in September 2019.
In this first study, we will be looking at reading the gospel stories as texts written under Roman Occupation. Jesus’ message about the Kingdom of God was a deliberate and direct confrontation with the Roman Empire and its Jewish clients – the Herodian kings and the Rome-appointed High Priest. No wonder he ends up on a Roman cross!
