Sent to all Church Secretaries and Steering Group Reps for the Partnership
Hi all,
Hope you are all well.
And now for something a bit different! I want to let you know about an exciting opportunity that is happening, which will be an innovative way to explore discipleship and as a biproduct may help me to reach all 16 churches in the Missional Partnership together.
Launching on the evening of Sunday 16th August, yourchurch is an online church that has started life as a Zoom service that has been meeting every week during the lockdown.
Over the lockdown period, Philip Brooks, Lawrence Moore and I have been leading Zoom services initially for Worsley Road, but for a long time attended more widely from URCs and others around the country and abroad. We decided to use this opportunity to make this more permanent by launching a church online. Details of this are below…..
If you want to know more, please contact me, or come along on Sunday evening at 6.30pm – the link follows the information.
Look forward to seeing you there! Spread the word!!
Keep safe
Ruth
A new church that will live and meet online is being born out of the Coronavirus pandemic. Launching on the evening of Sunday 16th August, yourchurch is an online church that has started life as a Zoom service that has been meeting every week during the lockdown.
yourchurch will meet every Sunday evening at 6.30pm. It aims to be a church for people who, for whatever reason (accessibility, timing, conviction or preference) want to “do church” online, rather than meet up occasionally for an additional service. yourchurch is intentionally focussed on whole-life discipleship and mission, in line with the URC’s Walking the Way initiative. Hence the strapline, ‘developing discipleship digitally’. The worship and preaching will engage with the big questions and events of the week, looking at them through a discipleship lens.
Lockdown has been a time to experience the reality of being part of a global church and a world community. yourchurch is exploring possible twinning arrangements outside of the UK, to include Bethlehem and churches in the Palatinate region of Germany, where the URC has a long-established partnership. There is the intention to establish links with interfaith partners.
If it has done nothing else, the pandemic has taught us that we are a global community, and sink or swim together!
